Description: This is an advanced course in American Sign Language discourse, intended for students currently enrolled in the Interpreter Education Program or for professional interpreters currently working in the field who display advanced ASL communicative fluency at the ASL 4 level. Special attention is given to the anthropological linguistic evolution of ASL and the Socio-linguistics of American Sign Language, including the grammatical functions of ASL within discourse. 72 hours lecture and 18 hours laboratory.
